carrots 🥕 farming
வேல னு irangita both of us really get to the depth.
Past three years so much learning in farming, practices, farmers mindset, finding out lost traditional practices that were followed before 1960 s, and so much hands on training.
Our parents are not at all happy that we came back from UK and now doing farming.
And I quit my well paid technical writing job.
Latest on the job training in farming.
We went to our land and found our neighbour preparing land for sowing carrots. Luckily they were not using tractor to till the land.
So husband said he wants to try and took the reins. Literally.
What we did not expect is that the cows just stand if not nudged.
The farmer told us or whip it, but we did not have the heart to.
So he gently touched them and then they.moved.
Funny to see them braking often.
Three times they have done this and the guy who has sowed carrots started புலம்பல்.
Already 60000 rs gone inside. Carrot seeds are very expensive. Rs2000 per packet. Only seeds has costed him 12000 rs.
Three times tiling charges, water pipes, cow dung manure and all has become huge.
He had to borrow 5k from his friend at last.
Now 3 months he has to wait. Waiting is not a problem. But with the rainy season anything can happen.
Agriculture is one thing where you do your best and leave everything to nature and God. You can’t control anything.
Gods grace if everything goes well maybe he will.mske 2 laks or so in 3 months.
But you have to deduct all the expenses.
Labour charges for Weeding every 20 days, spraying organic fertiliser, then harvesting.
Then finally logistics cost to send it to the market.
All this my guess is atleasr 1.25 laks will disappear.
75k for 3 months will be his profit.
People need to understand how difficult is farming and not bargain with him.
Its so painful to see the farmers struggling.
And especially if it’s organic farming the yield is only half of chemical fertilised carrots.
So it’s more difficult to see profits.
