Crystal salt and how it was used in our traditional practices.

in TAMILNADU we follow a lot of traditional practices.
earlier when I was young I also questioned them. But now I regret questioning my mom and aunt.
because they did not have an answer to the logic to the practices that were followed. So I thought I won. At the end they are all having the last laugh.
now again when all these are surfacing, it makes more sense.

i wish to share all that were followed, for the future generations.

we believe in using crystal salt for cooking.

we processed it, sautéed in heat for few minutes before storing it for cooking.

we used to gargle with it and little water when we have throat pain

we brush our teeth with it and little lemon squeezed in it.
we stored them only in clay pots. You Will find a white layer on the outside of the pot. It absorbs the toxins in it.

during corona times, all houses had heaps(500 gms) of crystal salt in all corners. We believed that they abosorbed all the germs.

the houses were mopped with salt water once a week to keep all the insects away.

clean your narrow mouthed bottles once a week with a little of crystal salt and water.

to remove Evil eyes, we used crystal salt in our hands, close fists and in front of the person [for whom we need to remove evil eyes] we rotate our hands in a circular direction, and do away the evil eyes. The person should be facing east direction and generally this is done on thursdays and sundays. Or whenever the person feels he s feeling tired after an achievement.
