Temples in Trichy. I would say Trichy is a temple city. Surrounded by very famous and old temples. Srirangam, Samayapuram, Akhilandeswari temple, Thanjavur Brahadeeswara Temple, Vekkaaliamman temple, Navagraha temples, and many many more.

Trichy is also connected to the history a lot because King Raja Raja Chola made Woraiyur as the capital of his kingdom.

Malaikottai or Rockfort temple

Lord Ganesh sits atop a Rock that is believed to be many million years old.

Lord Thayumanavar also is the main Deity there. It is believed that when a pregnant lady was suffering during her delivery because there was no help for her, Lord Shiva himself came down and helped her to deliver the baby.

In Tamil, Thai means mother. So his name here is Thayumanavar, meaning he was also a mother.

Even now, couples who want children pray that they will offer banana thar (the entire banana strip which may be contains around 1000 bananas). Once they get the baby, they come here, buy the bananas offer it to the deity and do the prayers. There are people to carry to help yo carry the bananas. Lord Shiva sits in a place where you have to climb some 150 steps.

To see the Ucchi Pillaiyar you need to climb 420 steps. Worth it.
