Great food, temples, simple people
what else do you need? And not to forget the water. So soft and tasty. பாலாறு water I guess.
The water added to the taste of food. What was so strikingly different from eating outside in chennai and bangalore was, I didn’t get stomach pain or any food poisoning. Eating outside all 3 meals for 3 days I would have been sick in other cities. So with lot of trepidation I had my meals. Not a single uneasiness.
is it the food, or the Kamakshi herself?
the place was so rich with temples, and without knowing we went when Brahmotsavam was happening. What an added blessing.
The temple decked up, groups of iyers singing vedas around you, cool breeze, nathaswaram, the silk sarees around you, totally transported me to a different world. Four hours we were sitting on the floor in the prakaram, not a single uncomfortable moment.
with such a huge crowd well managed, I was in awe of everything.
went two days to see the Amman. What a sight.
one day morning around 7 we went to get sundal Potalam from an iyer kadai. It gets over by 8.
5 rs. Can you.imagine getting nice tasty healthy sundal masala for 5 rs?
and sugarcane juice for 10 rs.
it is still.in it’s old state, and I pray and prefer Kanchipuram does not become commercial and lose it’s charm.
People were very simple and polite. We met many farmers who were so willing to share knowledge and give us inputs.
Nowadays I meet a lot of people who only speak to you if they need anything from you, people who.have an agenda, but here it was so refreshing.
