Idli sambhar, ghee, idly

After yesterday ‘s back breaking work in the farmhouse, today it is only yesterday’s repeat of food. no energy to cook again. full day rest.

Weeds are the biggest problem for us. many farmers tell us to apply chemical weed controller. that is so cheap too. but we do hand weeding only and because of the rains no one came for work too.

the parthenium had grown so much with flowers too, so I was worried that it will spread everywhere. parthenium is the main reason for allergies and wheezing in Bangalore. anywhere. I had wheezing problems too, but still I pulled out everything. around 30 plants from the soil together with the root. since it had rained it was a bit easier. my shoulder and hand ached yesterday night.

but I enjoy doing all this. when I am with trees and plants I forget myself.

yesterday morning we made idli with a spicy onion chutney. for lunch at farmhouse made paneer biriyani. packed everything. we ate breakfast at home and left because we knew that there will be hardly any time to eat there. so much ghee I take because I know will burn all that.

it was Sultry in the farm because of the expected rains too. with that had to remove the weeds. still there is so much but I could only do that much. hopefully tomorrow we get the labours.

ate biriyani for lunch there and after some more cleaning inside the house left the farmhouse at 4 to come back to Bangalore.

came and made dosai with that leftover chutney.

morning I searched the fridge, no chutneys. since yesterday idli was there thought will make idli sambhar.

simple. tasty and healthy too and when eaten hot hot with ghee dribbled generously it is heaven. that too in this cold weather.

simple recipe.

grind coconut, fried gram ( chutney kadalai), green chillies.

oil in a kadai, mustard seeds, ulutham paruppu, red chillies, curry leaves, onions, tomatoes more because only this for pulipu. when done add this ground paste, pour lots of water, because since has chutney kadalai it will start thickening. the raw smell has to go. may be 20 mins in sim.

add coriander leaves.

had it piping hot with yesterday morning idlis. so tasty it was.
