Should you use outer skin of ginger?

because even in very popular food channels the ladies use the ginger without peeling the skin.

In Tamil there is a saying. “Sukkuku puram nanju” meaning the outer skin of dried ginger is poisonous. So is the skin of fresh one too.

In our family when we make Sukku coffee a dry ginger coffee, we remove the skin from the dry ginger and then use it. Sometimes it will be so difficult to scrape it off.

many garam.masala grinding shops never remove the outer skin from the ginger.

removing skin from fresh ginger is easier with a back of a tsp.
