Survival cooking 1

Bangalore weather is becoming so unpredictable. One day sunny and one day cold. I was in Chennai for 3 weeks thinking that Bangalore must be cold. Was shocked to see it so hot.

so the difference in weathers have taken a toll on my health.

morning went to the kitchen and saw a rava idli packet sitting. I did not order neither did he. Guess it is a free one with one of these quick commerce sites.

So mixed little curd it and steamed and husband made coconut chutney.

both of us finished breakfast and he left to work.

I started watching Dr.pals videos on gut health and an old tamil movie.

when the time was 1.30, slightly started feeling hungry. No mood to cook. Thought will order. But the quality of food made me think, I will better cook.

checked what veggies i had.

had snake gourd and cauliflower. Timaties and onions always in stock.

took a wide pan, added 1 tsp of cold pressed sesame oil, added jeera and as they were crackling chopped onions, by the time the onions were done, the cauliflower florets were cut and washed. Added them, added chilli, coriander and turmeric and salt. Poured little water and closed it.

in another stove, placed the pressure cooker. As it was heating took out the tempering stuff. Mustard, ullutham பருப்பு, jeera. As they crackled got the onions chopped. Added tomatoes too. As they were cooking, took one cup of rice and 1/4 cup tuvar dhall, துவரம் பருப்பு, washed it and kept it ready. Added 4 green chillies and 2 cloves of garlic.

when they were sauted well, added rice dhall mixture. Little salt for rice and turmeric powder too.

if you add curry leaves it will have more aroma but I did not have.

chopped the snake gourd and added it too.

Added around 4 cups of water and closed it with whistle.

done. Came and continued watching. In 10 minutes both were ready.

before removing the cauliflower added some sesame seeds to it.

served some rice, veggies, pickles, curd.

what a wholesome meal. Just 20 mins.or max 30 mins.

but I don’t remember standing for that long in the kitchen. Easy on the tummy and so tasty.
