Survival cooking 3

Since not well for the past three days, no mood to cook. but its Sunday, and really felt bad for my husband who was not getting any rich food.

so thought will make biriyani. but in a jiffy. I just sat on the drawing room removing the mint leaves, and coriander, and shelling the peas. While he made the biriyani.

first just keep the cooker in the stove on and sim, I said.

though his style of cooking is different which will take hours and Hours, he did not argue.

I said add 1 sliced onions and 2 tomatoes. he confirmed with me once. I said please just follow my instructions. by the time he added the onions and tomatoes, I had kept the need coriander and mint leaves ready. so asked him to wash and add it. and then 6 green chillies. he added all.

I gave him the peas to add, and asked him to chop beans while they were cooking. done. he also added a carrot. then a tsp of chilli powder, 2 tsp of coriander powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric and salt. All in simmer only. then he removed half of the paneer slab and chopped into big chunks and added it. then we added our home made garam masala a heaped tbsp.

added raw rice 1.25 cups and 2.5 cups water (1:2). asked him to taste the salt in the water, he said it is correct.

Then he closed the cooker and I said 3 whistles. (we both forgot to add the ginger and garlic)

I then said you can make the onion raita now. he always liked to thinly cut the onions and he does it great relish.

he did a great job with raita and added pomegranate too.

within 30 mins all was ready.

had hot food and then the biriyani or pulav or paneer pulav whatever you can call it, was divine.

and that raita was so beautiful to look at and eat too.
