Tomato sauce and a hack

For a long time I have been hesitant to clean the silver vessels by using the store bought cleaners. So much chemicals. There are specific silver cleaners too. Never bought them. even for my bronze vessels I use only tamarind paste. I used soaked tamarind, apply it on the vessel and leave it for sometime and the voila.. it becomes shiny. for copper vessels too.

wash it with water later and use it.

Regarding the silver jewellery I always loved oxidised ones. so no need to polish them. but how to wash the utensils, especially the silver lamp that we light everyday. it was dark and yes I admit was lazy to wash and left it too much.

I first soaked the lamps in home made soap water liquid for 2 days for all the oil to come out. then washed it with brass brush. to an extent only it cleaned.

then I saw a hack video on YouTube. they cleaned it with tomato sauce!. could not believe it.

yesterday, took out the sauce and poured it on the lamps and just rubbed. I could not believe my eyes. cleaned it perfect. not to the extent of the chemicals dunking but ok for me. I can live with this. I never consume this store bought sauces, so my husband panicked when he saw me pouring the sauce on it. he loves the tomato sauce. then I told him, assume that I ate my share 🙂

if the silver is too tarnished it wont help. but slight tarnish try it.

if it can clean the oxidation on a metal so much, imagine what the sauce is doing in our stomach….
